The Language of Hair

The first thing you need to know is if you are not in the hair business, you don’t speak the same language as someone who is. Make sure you have someone who will listen to you and that you feel comfortable.

Show and Tell

Go in to your appointment knowing what you want done to your hair and it will be much easier to get your idea across. Check Google & Pinterest for pictures of what you are looing for and keep them on your phone to show your stylist. Keep in mind there may not be a photo that shows all you want so you may need to save several images of a certain haircut, or that show-piece that you are wanting to have; for instance the bang or layers or taper. Remember that pictures can say a lot. They are able to express what you may have a hard time showing with words.

Rinse, Repeat

Lastly, always have the stylist repeat what you have told them. This will ensure that you’re on the same page and are going to receive exactly what you want.
